Rreshen is a city rich in history and culture. Created relatively late, in 1949. Today it has a population of nearly 10 thousand inhabitants. It is the center of the Mirdita Municipality and the Diocese of Rreshen, with the Cathedral of Jesus, built in 2002. There are several educational institutions: - Nurseries and kindergartens for children. - "Pashko Vasa" 9-year school and "Mother Teresa" 9-year school.
The gymnasium was opened in 1960 and the Vocational High School "Saint Joseph the Worker" in 2004.
In Rrëshen, there is also the "Mirditë Municipal Hospital" that offers general pathology, general surgery, resuscitation, pediatrics, maternity, polyclinic, emergency, clinical-biochemical laboratory, imaging service and pharmacy services.
Also in Rrëshen there is the "Ariana Arapi" Sports Palace, the Historical Museum and two museum halls in the Palace of Culture.
In Rrëshen is "Abat Doçi" Square, "Marie Tuci" Square, "Musine Kokalari" Street, etc. The agrotourism fairs and handicraft clothing shops attract attention. Several local holidays are celebrated in Rrëshen, such as Easter (April), Saint Llezhdri's Days (May), Shna Premtja (July), Christmas (December), etc.
